It is here on the night of April 4, 1958 that mobster Johnny Stompanato was stabbed to death by Lana Turner’s daughter, Cheryl. Allegedly, she had grabbed a kitchen knife after hearing Stompanato and her mother in a violent argument. The killing was ruled a justifiable homicide after the courts deemed Cheryl was attempting to defend her mother.
This is the kind of sordid story that Los Angeles loves. There are a lot of theories about what happened that night. Cheryl claims that Stompanato walked into the knife. But, whatever the real story is….he got the point.
